• Account & Identity Information: First name, email address, password hash, date of birth (to verify legal age of majority in your Canadian province/territory), and gender.
• Profile & Compatibility Attributes: City and country of residence, education credentials, career/occupation, lifestyle practices (diet, exercise, smoking habits), family goals, marriage timeline, cultural background, core values, and personal interests.
• Visual Media & Photos: Uploaded profile photographs, governed by your selected photo visibility permissions (Public, Blurred with mutual approval, or Private).
• Communication & Interaction Data: Messages exchanged between mutual matches, saved profiles, expressed interests, reports, and blocks.
• Technical & Log Data: IP address, device type, browser metadata, and security audit logs used solely for fraud prevention and account integrity.

3. Purpose of Collection & Use (PIPEDA Fair Information Principles)

Under PIPEDA Principle 4.3 (Consent) and Principle 4.4 (Limiting Collection), personal information is collected and processed exclusively for explicit purposes:

• To construct and display your matchmaking profile in accordance with your chosen privacy filters.
• To calculate multi-factor compatibility scores with other intentional candidates.
• To facilitate secure, encrypted private messaging between mutual matches.
• To verify identity and prevent spam, fake accounts, harassment, or commercial exploitation.
• To communicate service updates, safety alerts, and account notifications in compliance with CASL.

We never sell, rent, monetize, or trade your personal information or profile data to third-party advertisers or brokers.

4. Granular Privacy & Photo Visibility Controls

Privacy is our fundamental product differentiator. Mithaq empowers you with self-service controls:

• Approximate Location: We only display your city and country. Exact postal codes or GPS coordinates are never displayed.
• Photo Blurring: You may elect to have your photographs blurred by default, unlocking them solely upon explicit, mutual consent.
• Compatibility Shield: Option to restrict profile discovery exclusively to users who satisfy your partner criteria.
• Activity Privacy: Toggle visibility for online presence and message read receipts.

5. Data Storage, Security & Cross-Border Transfers

Your data is encrypted both in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). We deploy industry-standard safeguards, role-based employee access controls, and regular vulnerability audits. When data processing occurs on Canadian or allied cloud infrastructure, all service providers are bound by strict contractual privacy commitments consistent with PIPEDA Principle 4.7.

6. Your Rights: Access, Rectification & Deletion

Under Canadian privacy law, you possess individual rights regarding your personal information:

• Right of Access: You may request a comprehensive export of all personal information we maintain about you.
• Right to Rectify: You may correct inaccurate or incomplete data at any time via your profile settings.
